NESTA RULED OUT

The former AC Milan defender Alessandro Nesta is expected to be out for the next few matches according to the manager of Montreal Impact, Marco Schällibaum. The manager has confirmed after the win over Toronto FC that the player has suffered an injury to the adductor. As a result, he had to be substituted from the match. The 36-year-old defender joined the MLS club after being released from his contract at AC Milan. He is widely regarded as one of the best defenders in the world, but injuries have robbed his importance with the games in recent years.

Fans have been left to wonder whether the pitch of Montreal Impact is a reason for the injury suffered by their star player after just three games into the season. Nesta made his debut for Montreal Impact in the match against New York Red Bulls, and he was widely judged to be the man of the match. He has been a vital cog in the Montréal team that has managed three consecutive victories to go top of the table. Nesta, though, has said that he does not know the reason for this injury. He has said that he has been playing on the turf for the last two matches.

“We have other solutions and we’ll wait for a diagnosis first. Maybe it’s not that bad. Maybe he’ll even be able to play next Saturday [against the New York Red Bulls]. But we still have enough quality in the squad that we’ll make the necessary changes,\” said the Montréal manager. “I don’t know. I trained for one month on turf. I played two games on turf. I don’t know,\” said the defender after the news about his injury broke out. The team will be playing against New York Red Bulls in the next match at home.
