INTER MIAMI APPOINT NEW MANAGER

Inter Miami have appointed a new manager ahead of the 2021 season in MLS football. Inter Miami are new to MLS football but that has not stopped the team from making high profile signings.

Ahead of the 2020 season, Inter Miami initiated the addition of a big name to MLS football when they secured the signing of experienced Argentine Gonzalo Higuainand they have repeated the same feat ahead of the 2021 season in MLS football following the addition of a big name manager.

Inter Miami confirmed on Monday that ex-England international Phil Neville has joined them. It was revealed by the club that Phil Neville will replace Diego Alonso as the permanent manager at the new Major League Soccer (MLS) football outfit.

Inter Miami are in their second season in the MLS and great things are expected of them after an average first season that saw them miss out on a proper MLS Cup playoff spot. They were knocked out during the play-in round of the 2020 MLS football.

New manager Phil Neville replaces the aforementioned Diego Alonso who led Inter Miami to tenth position at the end of the regular season. The position ensured that they qualified for the play-in round of the MLS Cup playoffs.

On the appointment of Phil Neville as the new Inter Miami manager, club co-owner David Beckham said that the club is looking forward to him joining soon. Phil Neville and David Beckham were Manchester United teammates under legendary manager Sir Alex Ferguson and they won several titles together. Phil Neville and David Beckham were members of the Manchester United team that won an unprecedented treble at the end of the 1998/99 season. Beckham and Neville are co-owners of English lower division club Salford City. Phil Neville was the England women national team manager before he left the role to take up the Inter Miami job.
